Notes from Meeting Dec 1

Summary of Meeting

Present: Colin, Kari, Patrick, Lise, Marianne, Nerolie

Worship Leaders: Geert, Kari, Loren, Piper, James, Nerolie, Marianne (more men, a student?)
PP: Lise, Yoko, Albert, Espen, Silje

The Message:
• make sure to use an appropriate person who can read it dramatised (passion, story telling)
• It can be difficult finding a good person. Some suggestions: John Baildam, Glenny Hainsworth, Robin Anthony, Erica Hole, Britt McCourt, E’schelle
• Please present The Message and explain/remind the congregation WHY we are doing this, and that this is not the scripture reading

Introduce the speaker
- Not necessarily long, but at least the name and background (e.g. A student at the college, the pastor)
- Include the preacher in the prayers

Introduce yourself
- When worship leading, let people know your name

Are there any criteria for the speaker?
- Patrick answered: It is difficult to do quality control, but they try to choose the speakers carefully.
- Also, cultural differences. Difficult to judge what is a “good” sermon

Christmas Decorating in Salisbury Hall
- Church Centre is decorated each year. Nothing in Salisbury?
- Kari, Lise and Nerolie will decorate with holly and wigs
- Kari will ask Althea if it is possible to get on of the 3 Christmas trees that are in Moor Close. (Should be available after Dec 10)

Christmas Services:
- Titled: Glory, Peace, Favour – Themes of Christmas

Communion:
- December, difficult to find deacons who are available.
- We are not expecting many to attend because of the Adventus Domini concert in Church Centre at the same time

- If you cannot worship lead on the date allocated please swap and let Lise and Geert know who are swapping with.

Male Worship Leaders:
- Now we have 2 male and 5 female worship leaders
- Any suggestions? Filip Bajic

The Blog:
- Can the worship leader please send the FINAL song list to Marianne for her to upload the correct videos on the blog.
- Preferably send video links so Marianne can put the correct version of the song

Goodbye Jenna
- Unfortunately Jenna is not available to worship lead any longer

Creative items:
- Esther Kok (a college student) has been contributing with some skits and drama pieces.

Presenting Departmental Leaders:
- Start in January to present one departmental leader a wekk so that the congregation can get familiar with the faces.
- Leaders of: deacons, elders, parent and toddler group, Sabbath school, worship leaders, Musicians, PA etc

Attending Numbers are going down:
- Reasons: Jump Church?
- Suggestion: Close balcony end of December and January. See how it goes.

NEXT MEETING – JANUARY 5 2010
On the agenda: How can we recruit more people for our different Worship departments (PA, musicians, welcome team, singers). We need to think through how to organize this. Please come with ideas for next meeting.
